Digitization in the construction and infrastructure sectors is no longer just about new software. Organizations work with project files, drawings, emails, and contracts scattered across various systems. Anyone looking to take new steps with AI first needs a reliable information base. With that message, DigiOffice is participating in DigiBouw 2026.

The trade show theme, “Lay the foundation for digitization here,” addresses a current issue in the sector. Construction and infrastructure companies have a wealth of information, but structure, context, and timeliness are not always clearly defined. As a result, documents are harder to find, versions become scattered, and it’s not always clear which information is up to date or who has access to it.

“AI can only be valuable if the underlying information is accurate, up-to-date, and presented in the right context,” says Arie Sterrenburg, CEO of DigiOffice. “Without that foundation, AI may provide answers more quickly, but it doesn’t necessarily mean those answers are better or more accurate.”

DigiOffice provides a management layer for document and information management integrated with Microsoft 365 and business systems. With metadata, version control, and access rights, the solution helps keep information organized. Depending on usage and retention requirements, documents can be stored in SharePoint Online and Azure Blob Storage. This allows organizations to maintain control over information, governance, and storage through a single workflow.

During DigiBouw, DigiOffice will translate this topic into a practical framework. In the theater session “The AI Foundation,” Sterrenburg will demonstrate which building blocks are needed to make relevant and reliable information available to AI. Metadata, coherence, timeliness, and clear agreements on management and access rights ensure that AI can use information in the proper context.

“It’s very tempting to jump right into using AI tools,” says Sterrenburg. “But just like with a building, the foundation determines what will be possible later on. Those who invest first in well-organized information will then be able to innovate in a more targeted and responsible way.”

DigiOffice will be at booth B032 at the “ Jaarbeurs ” in Utrecht on November 25 and 26. The theater session will take place on both days of the trade show from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Theater 3.
