An error in a BIM model always shows up on the construction site. Yet, on many projects, model verification still takes place separately from the rest of the work, in a desktop tool accessible to only a few people. At DigiBouw, Pro4all will demonstrate that there’s a better way. Pro4all has been developing software for the construction industry for 25 years and operates based on a clear vision. Not an all-in-one platform, but an ecosystem of solutions for data, quality, and safety that work together seamlessly. BIM Compass ties directly into this.
“A model error is a construction error,” says Bart van Oudbroekhuizen, Account Executive at Pro4all. “Your models are already right there alongside your drawings and approvals. So it’s strange that the verification happens somewhere else, handled by a few specialists. We want BIM to no longer be the work of just one person.”
With BIM Compass, model validation takes place in the browser, right where the project is already being managed. With every upload, a model is automatically checked against the team’s own IDS rules. Clashes are visible in 2D and 3D, and each finding immediately becomes a task assigned to a responsible person. Because the solution is built on the open IDS standard, existing rule sets remain fully usable.
“A work planner, site supervisor, or project manager opens the model and sees the part that pertains to their work,” explains Van Oudbroekhuizen. “Clients and subcontractors can also view the model without needing BIM software themselves. This way, you can find errors in the model before they surface on the construction site.”
Why DigiBouw? According to Pieter Beuker, CCO of Pro4all, it’s a logical choice. “DigiBouw brings together people who work with project information on a daily basis. That’s exactly where we want to have the conversation about model quality—and we’d rather focus on the substance than on a sales pitch.”
During the theater session at DigiBouw, Pro4all will give a live demo of BIM Compass and share best practices for integrating it with Prostream, the document and project management solution. Visitors will leave with concrete tools to bring model checking closer to the project.
